I'm also trying out substack life on a weekly schedule...it's not easy. Observations for me so far i) writing puts me into a pretty extreme hyperfixation / flow state ii) I'm a little night owl and most creative between the hours of 8pm and 1am iii) I get immense satisfaction from meeting the self-imposed schedule deadline, but also don't want this to become a chore

iii) is real 💯 I’m hoping that enforcing a more rigid deadline in the early stages will help me settle into a more organic routine. I’m already starting to feel the itch when I haven’t written for a few days, so maybe it’s already working!

Yes to racing to the top deck, front seat as a competitive sport. Also the sweet sweet joy of tree branches hitting the bus window - keeps the inner child happy!

I had a weekly goal to start with, and kept to it for maybe 10 posts. Now I'm thinking maybe monthly makes more sense but also to embrace the stillness and the edges and time it feels like something more flowing, less rigid/consistent, makes more sense. So agree about going out and finding joy!

10 consecutive weeks/posts is so impressive! If I make it that far, I’ll consider it a success. Thanks for reading ✨

You're really close - right? Though I also like the point @kaitlincurtice at The Liminality Journal made recently about not posting before something has been sitting for at least a few days and really needs to come out. Then again I suppose that would still make consecutive weeks doable!
